dense, unspoilt rainforest See the magnificent Mountain Gorilla

A Uganda holiday will almost always be centred around the chance to see the magnificent Mountain Gorilla in their natural habitat; the dense, unspoilt rainforest of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The wonders of this great country, however, run far deeper. Murchison Falls and Queen Elizabeth National Park between them boast excellent game viewing, boat safari’s, chimpanzee trekking and breath-taking scenery.

The snow-capped mountains viewed from the equator is a sight to behold, or a challenge to be conquered for the truly adventurous. Finally, the serene beauty of Lake Mburo sits in stark contrast to the white water rapids flowing from Lake Victoria into the River Nile. A short visit to see the Gorillas can easily be added to any Kenya or Tanzania safari, but only by making Uganda the focus of the holiday, is it possible to appreciate what this great country has to offer.

where to visit in Uganda

Murchison Falls National Park

A game reserve in one of the most exciting sections of the River Nile, filled with throngs of hippo and crocodile and surrounded by open savannah studded with occasional acacia trees, perfect for big game safari. The year round water source attracts an enormous variety of birdlife while the Budongo Forest area is excellent for spotting chimpanzees and other primates. Not forgetting the waterfall itself, an impressive spectacle which holds the title of the most powerful waterfall in the world.

Kibale National Park

Known as the Primate capital of the world for its variety and concentration of apes and monkeys. As well as chimpanzee, baboons, vervet, l’hoest, and colobus monkeys, the forests are home to a huge variety of birdlife and even forest Elephants. Primate trekking in Kibale isn’t just a warm up act before seeing the gorillas, but an unforgettable experience in it’s own right.

Queen Elizabeth NP

With several Lion prides spread across hectares of open savannah, deep forested valleys filled with the calls of chimpanzees and more hippo and elephants than can be counted in and along the shores of the Kizinga channel, the variety of safari experiences in Queen Elizabeth National Park make it a must on any Uganda touring holiday.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

The misty veil which hangs over the valleys of the ancient forest home of the critically endangered Mountain Gorilla shrouds the canopy in an almost otherworldly mystique, the perfect setting to head out on foot in search for the largest of the great apes. Gorilla trekking here really is a once in a lifetime experience.
