About this itinerary

Experience Uganda at its most captivating, a journey through a country of extraordinary diversity, where lush forests, vast savannahs and shimmering waterways combine to create one of Africa’s most rewarding safari destinations. From the shores of Lake Victoria to the thunderous power of Murchison Falls, the primate-rich forests of Kibale and Bwindi, and the wildlife-filled plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park, this itinerary showcases the very best Uganda has to offer.

Carefully selected lodges place you in the heart of each landscape, combining comfort and character with exceptional guiding and unforgettable experiences. Track chimpanzees through ancient forest, come face to face with mountain gorillas, cruise along the Nile in search of elephants and hippos, and explore remote wilderness areas far from the crowds on this truly immersive East African adventure.

day 1 Entebbe

On arrival, head straight for your Lake Victoria Serena, perched on the edge of the beautiful Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest and perhaps most important. The lake feeds the River Nile, bringing life to otherwise arid and desolate lands as it meanders north towards the Egyptian coast.

In the evening enjoy a sunset cruise on the lake. With a glass of wine and some freshly prepared snacks enjoy the cool afternoon breeze on deck, and take in the sights of local fishermen casting their nets while the sun dips over the horizon.

day 2-4 Murchison Falls National Park

Travelling north, you will arrive into Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and most dramatic protected area, where the mighty Nile forces its way through a narrow gorge before plunging down in spectacular fashion. A stay at Bakers Lodge, positioned along the banks of the river, offers a tranquil and intimate base with sweeping river views from each safari suite.

The park’s diverse habitats support an abundance of wildlife including elephant, giraffe, lion and buffalo, while the Nile itself teems with hippos and crocodiles. During your stay, enjoy expertly guided game drives across the savannah, wildlife cruises along the Nile, and a memorable boat excursion to the base of the falls, where the power and beauty of this natural wonder can be fully appreciated.
Accommodation: Baker's Lodge

day 5-6 Kibale Forest National Park

Continuing south, the landscape transforms into dense tropical forest as you arrive in Kibale, primate capital of East Africa. Staying at Primate Lodge Kibale, located deep within the forest itself, you are perfectly placed to explore this remarkable ecosystem.

Kibale is home to a variety of primates, most notably chimpanzees, and your trekking experience offers the chance to observe these fascinating animals in their natural habitat.

A guided walk in the nearby Bigodi Swamp reveals a different side of the forest, rich in birdlife and smaller species, as well as offering insight into local community conservation efforts.
Accommodation: Primate Lodge Kibale

day 7-8 Northern Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park offers a striking contrast, with open plains, volcanic craters and sparkling waterways creating a varied and wildlife-rich environment. Your base at Elephant Plains Lodge enjoys elevated views across the surrounding landscape, providing a comfortable and scenic retreat.

Game drives reveal a wide array of species, from large herds of buffalo and elephant to elusive predators, while a cruise along the Kazinga Channel brings you close to dense concentrations of hippos and birdlife along the water’s edge.
Accommodation: Elephant Plains Lodge

day 9 Southern Queen Elizabeth National Park

Heading south into the remote Ishasha sector, the scenery becomes quieter and more untouched, known for its famous tree-climbing lions and expansive fig tree-lined plains. A stay at Ishasha Wilderness Camp offers a classic safari experience, with a simple yet comfortable tented setting that blends seamlessly into its surroundings.

Game drives here focus on tracking wildlife in this less-visited corner of the park, where sightings feel all the more exclusive.
Accommodation: Ishasha Wilderness Camp

day 10-11 Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Your journey continues into the mist-covered hills of Bwindi, a UNESCO-listed forest and one of the last remaining habitats of the endangered mountain gorilla. Staying at Buhoma Lodge, perched on the edge of the forest, you are ideally located for one of Africa’s most profound wildlife encounters.

Gorilla trekking through the dense forest is both challenging and deeply rewarding, culminating in time spent observing these gentle giants in their natural environment. During your stay, an evening village walk offers a glimpse into local life and traditions, adding a cultural dimension to your experience.
Accommodation: Buhoma Lodge

day 12-13 Lake Mburo National Park

Your Ultimate Uganda adventure concludes with a scenic drive back to Entebbe, arriving in time for your onward arrangements, taking with you memories of a country rich in remarkable landscapes, wildlife and experiences. Not ready to leave? Consider adding on a few nights relaxation on Lake Victoria or fly across to the Indian Ocean beaches of Kenya and Tanzania.
