high quality, low impact tourism Inspiring conservation success stories

Zambia represents the best of what Africa has to offer. Their low-impact-high-quality approach to tourism has resulted in inspiring conservation success stories, as well as some of the most exciting safari experiences of the continent.

Lodges and camps are small and intimate and blend with the landscape, the guides are world renowned as being some of the most highly trained and knowledgeable on the planet and the sheer variety of wildlife experiences on offer is almost bewildering.

South Luangwa National Park rightfully claims to be the spiritual home of the walking safari, the density of wildlife and the jaw-dropping backdrops arguable make this the best place in the world to experience them.

home of the prehistoric Shoebill Stork Experience on foot, by safari jeep or from the water

Lower Zambezi and Kafue National Park are equally excellent whether experienced on foot, by safari jeep or from the water in purpose build safari boats or a canoe.

All of these reserves are also excellent for bird lovers, but the standouts for the true enthusiast have to be the Busanga Plains, boasting over 500 bird species and the Bangweulu Wetlands, one of the few remaining homes of the prehistoric Shoebill Stork.

There’s no better way to start or finish your safari than with a visit to Mosi-oa-Tunya (‘The Smoke that Thunders,’) otherwise known as Victoria Falls. From luxury dinner trains to Rhino safaris and sunset cruises down the Zambezi, there’s so much more here than just a waterfall.

where to visit in Zambia

Victoria Falls

One of the 7 wonders of the world, the falls are a spectacle to behold. As well as being the epicentre for adventure sports such as white water rafting the area around the falls offers a variety of nature based experiences, from horseback safari’s to sedate Zambezi river cruises.

Lower Zambezi NP

Perhaps the most beautiful section of one of the most beautiful rivers in the world, the mighty Zambezi attracts huge numbers of big game and bird species. River safaris, canoeing and game fishing are especially excellent here.

Venture Deeper

Zambia’s low-impact approach to tourism means there’s no real need to get creative to beat the crowds – there aren’t any. But for those wanting something a little different, North Luangwa NP has excellent game viewing and is practically deserted, Kasanka NP boasts one of the most dramatic bat migrations in the world and the Bangweulu Wetlands are one of the few remaining homes of the prehistoric Shoebill Stork.

South Luangwa

The home of the walking safari and one of the most wildlife dense reserves in all of Africa, mostly centred around the Luangwa River and its tributaries. If you only ever do one walking safari in your life, here is where you’d want it to be.

Kafue National Park

Consisting of seasonal wetlands, woodlands, and savannah, the varied ecosystems of Kafue and Busanga Plains attracts a bewildering variety of wildlife, from numerous lion prides to rare species such as Sitatunga, as well as over 500 species of bird.

Lake Malawi

Although not in Zambia, Lake Malawi is the perfect end to a Zambia Safari. Soft sand beaches, excellent snorkelling and warm African hospitality and all within easy reach of Zambia’s hubs.
